Blood

Blood

Blood is a red, moving fluid in the body that provides all the cells of our body with oxygen and nutrients.

Blood consists of plasma (60%) and blood cells (40%).

Blood plasma is a yellowish-white fluid, mainly composed of water, as well as various trace elements, proteins, salts, and vitamins.

There are three types of blood cells, present in varying amounts and performing different functions:
• Red blood cells (erythrocytes) — 99% of all blood cells;
• White blood cells (leukocytes) — divided into granulocytes, lymphocytes, and monocytes;
• Platelets (thrombocytes).
